Unit 2 - Set Dance
Practical examination - externally assessed
Candidates perform set material given by the exam board (AQA) around a minute in length. Pupils choose to perform either 'Impulse' or 'Find It'. They are marked on their physical competence and effectiveness as performers, as well as their knowledge of safe working practice whilst performing.

Unit 3 - Performance in a duo/group dance
Practical examination
Candidates perform in a group dance related to a professional work from a perscribed list given by the exam board. The performance must last between 3-3 and a half minutes and demonstrate three clear links to the professional work. Candidiates will be marked on their physical competence and effectiveness as performers and their knowledge of safe working practice whilst performing.

Unit 4a - Group Composition
Practical examination
Candidates select a starting point or stimulus to base a group composition on.
The piece must be between 2 and a half minutes and 3 minutes in length and have between 2 and 5 dancers performing in it.
The group dance must be the outcome of the work of one choreographer.
Candidates will be marked on their effectiveness as a choreographer.

Unit 4b - Solo composition
Practical examination - controlled assessment
Under the guidance of thier teacher candidates are given 3 motifs related to a professional work from the perscribed list given by AQA.
The motifs must be developed to create a short sol dance, with clear form and structure between 1- 1 and a half minutes.
Candidates must complete a composition booklet to demonstrate their choreographic process.

- Accurate description, evaluation and analysis of the features of the two chosen professional works
- Accurate description, evaluation and analysis of action, space, dynamic and realtionship content of the two works
- Ability to use appropriate dance terminology

The performance of the assesment piece will be recorded and sent to an external moderator for marking.
