Exam
Section A is will involve answering design related questions based on the research theme of "flat pack charity packaging". Students must research this in preparation for the exam in order the second guess and practice a range of design solutions.
Section B requires students to respond to a range of design and manufacture related questions if both written and drawn form. Questions will be on a range of design and manufacture topics.

Student will respond to the exam board given brief, to research, design and make an educational toy. Students need to present their final practical outcome with a design and manufacture portfolio.

Students will produce a design folder ( approx 20-25 pages). This will document all of their analysis, research, ideas and development, culminating in a final proposed design which they will then manufacture..
The marks allocated for each section of their coursework are as follows:

Section A will involve answering design related questions based on the theme of "promotional packaging for a drinks container"
Section B could involve answering questions on any areas of the D&T curriculum.
Questions will be on a range of topics; materials, manufacturing processes, sequencing manufacture, safety, quality control, marketing, product analysis, human factors, environmental issues, CAD/CAM, packaging, printing and labelling of products..
