Welcome to this week's newsletter.
Firstly, it was great to see many of you at our Year 7 parents' evening last night. The results of the Parent Survey were incredibly positive and we really appreciate the fact that so many of you took the time to give us some feedback.
We have started using a new system for recording lateness to school this week. The new system has been explained to staff and students. You may receive an email to alert you to a late arrival of your child. We are trying to ensure that any missed time due to lateness is made up on the day of the lateness, though in some cases where a student is very late after school detentions may have to be issued. If there is a legitimate reason for a late arrival, please ensure you let the Attendance Office know.
Our EWO, Sharyn Brazier, has arranged a coffee morning on 12 December for parents and carers who are concerned about children who suffer anxiety. See the newsletter for more details.
Our Carol Service coming up on Tuesday 19th December at St John's Church. This is always a well-attended event and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
You may have seen news reports lately regarding distressing content that has been circulating on social media amongst young people. The Police are investigating this issue and will take appropriate action where necessary. It is important that we work with young people to ensure they are safe online and we would encourage you to talk to your child if you have any concerns. Please may we remind you that if you are aware of any inappropriate content on your child's phone to inform the Police immediately. You can find helpful information on the e-safety page on our website: https://gateway.dorothy-stringer.co.uk/public/DS/Pages/e_safety_links.aspx
